Predicatable Features Attract Urban Coyotes To Residential Yards

August 24, 2020

This is the name of a study that was conducted by Maureen H Murray and Colleen Cassady St. Clair of the University of Alberta Canada. While it findings are what might be expected, do not feed coyotes, secure your garbage. There are a couple of interesting findings as well.

#1…Healthy coyotes are greater than 4 times more likely to avoid residential areas than diseased coyotes.

#2…Diseased coyotes are 5 times more likely to occupy resource(food) sites with bed sites under houses or decks than healthy coyotes.

These results beg for this question, some people tell us that we need to coexist with coyotes, this study suggest that the coyotes people want us to coexist with are probably diseased(not good for you or your pets)

Truth is some coyotes need to be removed if they are diseased or aggressive, it’s time to face the truth.
